Removes water from oil May 1st 2005 Leslie Selsdon of Selsdon Filtration is an expert on the removal of water from oil. He recently joined forces with peristaltic pump manufacturer, Autoclude, to develop a new system to remove water from oil
In its simplest form, the system consists of a sealed filter/purifier, a peristaltic pump, differential pressure gauge and power supply
It works by gently pumping oil through the filter and filter medium that will absorb moisture present in the oil without changing the characteristics of the hydraulic oil
A by-product of the system is the removal of particulate down to about 30micron. Additional sensors can be added to monitor moisture content, particulate size and number for condition monitoring of oils
The system is portable and can be powered from 12/24V DC or 110/230V AC. It can be used as a service aid, taken to site or machine where the presence of moisture in oil may be a problem, or used as a static installation by a holding tank where the oil can be continually recycled through the filter medium
The peristaltic action of the pump ensures there is no potential for frothing of the oil, and the entire system operates at pressure of less than 2bar. More articles from Autoclude Ltd: |
