Scorpion takes sting out of outages November 1st 2008 Faced with potential
disruption to its business
from blackouts and
brownouts at its HQ in Erith,
Kent, Batt Cables turned to
standby generators from
Scorpion Power Systems.
A survey highlighted
three key areas that needed
a power support system.
Each of these has now
been equipped with a
standby generator so that
machinery, offices and IT
departments are unaffected
when power outages occur.
Scorpion Power Systems
installed a Powerhouse
DV358 three-phase
generator and UPS system
to support the three-storey
office block and ancillary
buildings. As the building is
close to a river, it sited the
generator on a raised floor
in case of flooding.
A Scorpion Powerhouse
DV142 three-phase unit was
installed in the warehouse
to provide standby power to
cable cutting machines, a
20t overhead crane, lighting
and IT equipment. Finally, a
small Scorpion Powerhouse
DP22 single generator was
installed to support the
transport office.
All three have a 'supersilent'
waterproof acoustic
canopy, automatic mains
failure and a water jacket
heater to aid cold starting. More articles from Scorpion Power Systems: |
