Updated compactor
January 1st 2005

After almost 20 years reliable service, a Skegness recycling centre has replaced its two Randalls Simpak 1800 waste compactors with two new units from the same manufacturer.

The new versions feature an ultra-safe hopper design with a sliding door for opening and closing the guard when the machine is in operation.

The unit has a 1.7m3 charge box and a 7.5kW motor driving up to a nominal 130m3/h, at a compaction force of 28 000kgf. The main control panel, together with the main isolator, is at the rear of the machine. Emergency stop, start, pump running and other warning indicators are mounted on a separate panel close to the loading area.

The re-designed hopper has a vertical door that slides sideways so that all the contents are enclosed when the machine is in use.

Powerful and efficient, the compactor enables an average of 8t of waste to be removed in one load.
