New layout achieved using steel partitioning November 1st 2005 Steel partitioning from Troax has provided a cost effective and versatile way to create a series of new offices, workshops and production areas as part of an £11m expansion and refurbishment programme at tyre manufacturer Pirelli's Carlisle factory.
Expansion at the factory, Pirelli's main plant in Europe for sports utility vehicle tyres, is designed to help the company boost production to meet rising global demand for tyres for four-wheel drive vehicles.
During the expansion and refurbishment work, a number of production units and office areas had to be relocated to accommodate new facilities.
Specialist contractor Cumbria Storage carried out the work, choosing Troax Excalibur double skin steel partitioning as the most versatile and cost-effective method of achieving the new layout.
A combination of solid steel and steel/glazed Excalibur panels were used to create the series of offices, workshops, production units, test areas and amenity areas.
The steel panels are of monbloc construction, comprising two steel skins separated by a composite insulating infill. This design complies with health and safety legislation and provides a good level of sound and heat insulation. More articles from Troax (UK) Limited: |
