Powrmatic units can heat large areas March 1st 2005 When faced with the challenge of heating Cambrian Engineering’s manufacturing facility in Stornoway on the island of Lewis, consulting engineers Hulley & Kirkwood’s first call was to BSS in Glasgow.
The facility, where wind turbine and offshore piling products are made, consists of two buildings and needed a heating system that was competitevly priced, energy efficient and easy to maintain.
Harry Silvers of BSS knew of Powrmatic’s Powrmaster range of units specially designed to heat large areas. He believed them to be ideal for Hulley & Kirkwood’s requirements.
The Powrmaster principle is relatively simple in that it moves large volumes of air at low velocity and at a leaving air temperature that is said to be much lower than conventional products. Cost savings result from reduced energy consumption.
The system at Hulley & Kirkwood has to maintain 13°C from an outside temperature of - 7°C. Four LPG-fired Powrmaster units were selected with associated flue and controls: two rated at 410kW and two at 310kW output. More articles from Powrmatic Limited: |
