Combining ultrasonics with aqueous wash system July 1st 2005 Ahigh level of component cleaning is achieved by Hydraforce in Birmingham following installation of a MecWash Midi wash system that combines rotational washing technology with ultrasonics.
The manufacturing process used by the valve manufacturer includes machining followed by resin impregnation that can sometimes cause residue to adhere to the component. The MecWash Midi uses ultrasonics to dislodge this material before the aqueous washing process removes it, resulting in a clean component that is ready for transfer to the build line.
Andy Fellows, manufacturing engineer, says “We are required to clean components to meet precise customer specification, which calls for no more than one particle above 100microns in size to remain in 100mL of wash-down fluid drawn from a 1L sample. Early results indicate that these aims are being exceeded by the MecWash system.” More articles from Mecwash Systems Ltd: |
