Hands up for better Hygiene January 1st 2006 To improve hygiene in food processing plants, SCA Tissue Europe is offering food firms a hand hygiene review.
Kelvin Hefford, product and marketing manager, comments "Estimates show that as many as one in 10 people in the UK suffer foodborne illnesses every year, nearly a third of these as a direct result of poor personal hygiene during food preparation.
"Washing and drying the hands properly is the easiest and most effective way to reduce contamination.
Tork Hygiene At work is a series of tools to help managers communicate to their staff the importance of good hand hygiene."
An SCA hygiene representative outlines the scheme and familiarises himself with practices within the company. A plan is then drawn up and a review of the kitchen, toilets and shower rooms is carried out and problem areas highlighted. Once Tork systems have been installed, staff are informed and stickers and posters are supplied to help change hand hygiene habits.
SCA Tissue Europe has introduced a new blue hand towel roll for food industry use. Tork Advanced Blue comes in a semi-automatic dispenser that cuts the roll to size.
