Automated panel cleaning

A six-fold increase in throughput is being achieved by Blastrim at its Birmingham premises following the installation of a blast cabinet and abrasive media from Mac’Ants.

The facility is dedicated to the removal of flux deposits in four specific welded areas on sunroof frames. Originally processed by hand, the procedure has now been fully automated with Mac’Ants’ equipment, enabling Blastrim to meet increased production.

The self-contained blast cabinet has four fixed nozzles positioned to fire abrasive material directly at the welded fitting. The process requires each panel to be simply loaded from a mobile carrier by hand onto guide rails that position the units in the cabinet at the touch of a button.

After completion, in no more than 15sec, panels are ejected for cleaning-off and onward shipping.
