Saw cuts cutting time
July 1st 2007 RSA has developed a circular saw
for tubes to 15mm wall thickness
and 170mm dia, as well as solid
bars to 160mm dia.
Customers using the new
Rasacut XXL during the past few
months say that, depending on the
workpiece, cutting time is up to
90% below that of up-to-date band
saws. The company adds that an
improved cut quality is achieved
with regard to perpendicularity and
surface roughness.
The increase in productivity is
said to be mainly due to the drive
of the saw. With up to 40kW, the
saw drive attains a rated torque of
up to 1500Nm.
The machine has been designed
to cope with a wide spectrum of
workpieces from 20mm dia
upwards. These can be produced
in fixed lengths between 50 and
3000mm. Saw blade changes, for
example from HSS to carbide, are
made with few manual movements
since the saw head is easily
