Cutting edge choice for aerospace company May 1st 2007 KMT Cutting Systems has
won an order from
aerospace company
Boeing. Under the new order, KMT
Cutting Systems will construct,
assemble, deliver and install a
complete robotised abrasive
waterjet cutting system for use by
Boeing Fabrication. Robotised
abrasive waterjet cutting is
designed for cutting harder
materials such as metals, glass
fibre and ceramics. A fine abrasive
is added to the high-pressure
waterjet, which cuts materials
through a process of microerosion.
Typical industrial
applications include deburring and
grinding of castings, trimming of
titanium alloys, glass fibre and
composite details or cutting larger
metal tubes.
"We see great potential in the
areospace industry and the latest
order from Boeing shows that
we're on the right track," says Paul
Etchells, UK sales director for KMT.
"Since the demands of the
areospace industry are very high,
it's satisfying that Boeing chose
KMT Cutting Systems." More articles from KMT Robotic Solutions: |
