So confident of the core benefits that its Minimal Quantity Lubrication (MQL) can give to machining operations Bielomatik is introducing a trial kit.

Companies already using MQL technology are said to be experiencing a significant up-turn in productivity. Bielomatik says cutting cycle times may be reduced and better product finishes achieved. There are also said to be direct, on-going financial savings since there is a reduction in the amount of cutting oil required and disposal cost of discarded metal is lower since it is virtually oil-free.

The trial unit comprises a singlechannel MQL system and comes complete with ball valve, hoses, nozzles - everything needed to connect to a machine. MQL systems require that tooling and spindle have through-holes since this is where the lubricant has to pass. Bielomatik engineers will assist in the set-up of the trial kit to optimise its function to each particular machining application.

Core advantages claimed are precise control and adjustment of the oil flow, no overdosing during tool changes (complies with EPA requirements), and oil mist does not get into the environment.
