Self-tapping
July 1st 2006

A self-tapping range of inserts is available from Spirol for use with most plastics, including thermosets, providing a high and consistent pull-out strength.

Installation is simple using a drill press fitted with a non-pitched tapping head or with a Spirol selftapping screwdriver. Symmetrical design simplifies orientation during installation, while a lead-in pilot ensures straight installation.

Spirol offers thread-forming (Series 10) and threadcutting (Series 13) inserts. Thread-forming versions are suitable for ductile materials while, for brittle materials, threadcutting inserts have three cutting facets spaced equally for a balanced cutting action.
