Tapping unit
May 1st 2007

The Somex range of automation equipment, available from J S Bruce Engineering, has been extended to include a new pitch controlled tapping head.

The Max 28TE can be used on transfer lines or integrated into special purpose machines of all types and configurations.

The tapping head has been designed to be highly flexible in application, with a 120Nm torque capability. It can accommodate tapping applications of M24 x 3mm or M48 x 2mm in 600N/mm2 steel.

The standard thread pitch range is 0.5 to 3mm, with other pitches available on request.

The unit can be fitted with 3ph AC motors up to 5.5kW (50hz), with geared motor options also available to provide the lower spindle speeds required for larger thread diameter tapping operations.
