Big savings in consumables September 1st 2003 Heerema Hartlepool (HHL) produce large, complex structures for the oil and gas industry. Building such large structures means that savings in consumables and productivity can make a huge difference to overall costs. HHL has switched from using solid wire with agglomerated flux to ESAB OK Tubrod 15.24S fluxed core wire and OK 10.47 fused flux for 90% of its submerged arc welding.
Many advantages have been gained by using the new consumables. Due to the deposition rate of a cored wire, welding times can be reduced
by 20 to 25%.
The ESAB OK 10.47 fused flux is fully basic as opposed to acidic. This gives increased mechanical properties with high strength while still providing ease of handling. More articles from ESAB Limited: |
