Component cleaning problems washed away September 1st 2004 When Redditch-based M&M Turned Parts needed an alternative to its labour intensive and often problematic component cleaning processes it opted for a Dürr Ecoclean Minio 85C from StarragHeckert UK.
Partner Edward Moss explains “Our previous cleaning methods were too labour intensive. We have seven CNC machines running around the clock and used to prewash parts in paraffin to remove the majority of oil and swarf that was then followed by washing in an aqueous machine. However this machine required two operators and, in winter, it would fill the working area with steam.” “We looked at a selection of machines, but the Dürr fulfiled all our requirements. It is very compact, complies with the latest environmental regulations and, because it is programmable, we could modify cycles where extra care is required.” With a footprint of just 1000 by 2000mm, the system features integral energy saving, continuous distillation and solvent preparation that is said to lead to optimised cleaning at much higher efficiency.
