One-hit, five-axis solution
September 1st 2004

One-hit, five-axis mill/turning centre technology that has automatic part transfer to a second operation subspindle to provide the one-high machining cycle, is now available from Colchester Sales. The company says lead times can be reduced and highly competitive hourly machining rates can be maintained.

The T6MS, 52mm bar capacity version of the Colchester Tornado is instantly recognised in its new livery. Its specification includes a 15kW main spindle with 5.5kW, 130mm capacity A-axis travelling sub-spindle having in-phase radial 8-axis rotation that enables in-cycle spindle kissing for part exchange.

A 12-station, all-driven 3.7kW, 30 VDI mill/turn turret services both spindles, and a totally integrated Fanuc 18i control completes the main specification.
