Output up September 1st 2004 Heating and ventilation specialist, Gilberts, has invested in hydraulic press technology to improve the efficiency and output of its pressing division.
The Blackpool-based company helped its move to a just-in-time manufacturing model by replacing four mechanical presses with a single 63t Hare hydraulic press. In its first month, the press increased output to above that of the previous presses together.
Switching to the Hare 63HP has resulted in tool change downtime being reduced by 70% and has eliminated the need for a skilled setter to be called in for the process. Component quality is said to be consistently higher, with better draw and less splitting on forming and blanking operations. |
