Five-axis machining is now available on XYZ Machine Tools' Mini Mill 560 compact vertical machining centre and on four larger models.

A trunnion table fitted to the machine's table is interfaced with the control system to provide a simultaneous five-axis capability for simple five-sided machining and for more complex geometric forms. This option is said to significantly reduce setup times and fixturing requirements.

The company now includes an automatic pallet changer in its portfolio. With a load capacity to 3600kg, the XYZ APC makes light work of loading and unloading heavy or large workpieces. It has a positioning repeatability of ±0.0025mm.
