Rotary axis for laser system
May 1st 2007

Bystronic UK has received an order from general sub-contractor Laser Industries for equipment valued in excess of £425 000 for a Bystronic Byspeed 3015 laser system with 4.4kW resonator and a separate rotary axis which is to be retrofitted to a Bystronic laser.

Laser Industries in Cornwall is a major user of Bystronic equipment and has invested in excess of £1m on a range of laser and press brake systems. Owners David Mulley and Iain Wilson bought the company's first Bystronic laser, a Bysprint 3015 with 1.8kw resonator in 1999 when they realised there was untapped laser cutting business to be found in many industries.

Production took off and three years later a Bystar was commissioned. This could handle thicker materials due to its 4kw resonator. This was followed two years later by a Bystronic Edwards Pearson PR8 200t pressbrake which, with its ability to handle complex components in one movement and the pressure reference bending technology with dynamic crowning, ensures that the company can fulfil demands for production of sheet metal parts.

The directors decided to invest in the high speed Byspeed to allow them to add another dimension to their business. They also invested in a rotary axis, to be retrofitted to the Bystar. This will introduce tube cutting to the area.

The attachment cuts different tubular profiles (square, rectangular, circular, oval, and so on), allowing the accurate positioning of holes and slots, essential for hanging and fixing notches in many applications.
