Turnell & Odell turns to XYZ January 1st 2011 Specialising in precision
machining and fabrication,
sub-contractor Turnell &
Odell caters for prototype
development and batch
production work, while also
providing an emergency
breakdown repair service for
process critical machinery.
Although equipped with full-
CNC machine tools,
including five-axis machining
centres,much of the work is
allocated to CNC/manual
machine tools supplied by
XYZ Machine Tool.
Turning work undertaken
on CNC/manual lathes
ranges from small pins
weighing a few grammes to
shafts up to 3m long and
weighing 1.5t machined on
the recently-installed XYZ
ProTURN SLX 555 gap-bed
lathe. This 3m between
centres version has a swing
over bed of 555mm and a
swing in the gap of 900mm,
as well as a 104mm spindle
bore. CNC programs can be
written off-line but the ease
with which the ProtoTRAK
control can be programmed
means that T&O finds it
quicker to program one-offs
and low volume work at the
machine. More articles from XYZ Machine Tools Limited: |
