Turning centre
May 1st 2008

Occupying just 1700mm (W) by 1450mm (D), the new XYZ Compact Turn 52 is the smallest model in XYZ Machine Tools range of turning centres.

The unit can turn diameters up to 220mm to a maximum turned length of 280mm and can do this at spindle speeds to 5000rev/min due to its 20HP (15kW) spindle motor. Rigidity and stability are guaranteed by the solid Meehanite ribbed castings in the 2400kg (total machine weight) construction.

Equipped with a 155mm dia three-jaw power chuck, the unit has a 52mm bar capacity (61mm spindle bore) and a 12-station VDI tool turret holding turning tools with a maximum shank size of 20 by 20mm. The VDI turret can hold boring bars to 32mm dia and enables maximum use to be made of the tool management system within the Siemens 810D ShopTurn conversational control, allowing quick tooling change-over.
