Ultrafiltration plants flourish
November 1st 2005

Ultrafiltration systems capable of providing flow rates between 5 and 100m3/h are available from Purite for the pre-treatment of mains water, in particular for the removal of colloids from heavily contaminated raw water.

The plants are primarily for use with high flow reverse osmosis systems and remove contaminants such as particulates, microorganisms, inorganic colloids and organic macromolecules.

They can incorporate multiple streams, with redundancy built in as necessary. Each filtration module is constructed from hydrophilic polyether sulphone hollow fibres to give high levels of physical and chemical stability.

Filters can remove contaminants from 5000 to 150 000 Daltons.
