Vegetable based coolant
November 1st 2005

Replacing conventional coolants with non-toxic Microlube from Advanced Carbide Tooling has improved working conditions and increased tool life at Dales Engineering Services in Peterhead.

Concerned about fumes given off by the mineral- based lubricants previously used for drilling and tapping applications, the company investigated ACT's vegetable-based Microlube.

After using the material in both aerosol and triggerbottle form, it opted for the latter as the more cost effective and now uses Microlube XP for all drilling and tapping applications on manual lathes and horizontal boring machines.
