Digital wrench July 1st 2008 A major car manufacturer is now
checking torque values of critical
fastenings within its bodyshop,
using ProWrench Opta digital
torque wrenches, says Crane
Electronics. The checks are carried
out three times per shift using one
75Nm ProWrench Opta digital
torque wrench.
The wrench is taken to the
production line when it has been
stored with data to check torque
values for a group of fastenings.
The wrench displays number of
bolts to be checked and torque
targets. Minimum and maximum
torque values held within the
wrench inform the operator via
LEDs if readings are low, high or
exact. Readings taken are stored
with time, date, user and Vehicle
Identification Number. Results are
uploaded to Crane's OptaComms
software and exported to a
spreadsheet. Crane says there has
been a 50% saving in operator time
to carry out torque checks. More articles from Crane Electronics Ltd: |
