Better Fluid Management
May 1st 2006

ROCOL Lubricants has updated its Ultracare programme to deliver even greater fluid management support to customers. According to Steve Chapman, head of ROCOL Lubricants' Metalworking business unit, the update reflects the firm's continued commitment to working in partnership with manufacturers to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

First launched in 2001, the Ultracare fluid management programme has helped manufacturers reduce their metalworking fluid spend by up to 40%, from reductions in fluid usage, tool wear, labour downtime and disposal. It can also contribute towards the achievement of OHSAS 18001 and BS EN ISO 14001.

The Ultracare programme begins with an in-depth machine shop survey to identify the cost savings that can be made, and goes on to develop a bespoke fluid management package that incorporates extensive support materials and dedicated operator training on safe and effective cutting fluid management.

Through Ultracare, ROCOL provides additional help and advice on a range of issues including oil storage regulations compliance and materials handling, as well as offering a free barrel recycling service and competitive cutting fluid disposal rates.

Additional technical support is available to every Ultracare customer from a fully trained mobile service engineer equipped to solve problems on the spot, and further technical support from experienced engineers and extensive laboratory facilities is just a phone call away.

The new addition to the programme is the ROCOL E-GAP water backflow prevention device, which eliminates the problem of backflow into the water system when using an automatic fluid mixer from a mains tap.

The E-GAP provides a solution that is both Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) compliant and extremely cost effective when compared with a header tank and pump system. As part of the Ultracare support service, a fully trained ROCOL service engineer will install the device at customer sites and test it for use.
