Fast service January 1st 2005 Following an upgrade to a centrifuge on its Dartford Plant, Glaxo SmithKline experienced problems with an elderly analogue variable speed drive, with downtime causing severe problems.
Ken Lord, GSK’s product stream engineer, phoned Danfoss with an enquiry about a new drive for the centrifuge. The sales team identified the drive type and braking options necessary. The initial enquiry was made on a Wednesday and by midday on the Friday the drive had arrived from Germany and was on site. The following Monday GSK requested site support for installation and commissioning. A Danfoss engineer was on site by 3.00pm the same day and the drive was up and running by 7.00pm.
