Backing Tape is available from
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques.
The tape can be placed at the
backside of a weld to save costs for
manufacturers. Three different
grades are offered to permit arc
welding to 240A. The company says
the benefits of backing tape include
an elimination of the need to make
backing bars and to manipulate
them in tight spaces, a reduction in
post-weld dressing and cleaning, and
the weld is cast flat onto the glass
fibre weave eliminating drop through
and icicles. Slag and massive oxidation
