Fool proof
November 1st 2005

GoldLogic Control Systems (GCS) has developed a simple solution to the problem of shipping products with incorrect or missing labels using a standard camera system linked to a PC program.

The Automated Camera Package Checking System uses standard DVT or Siemens cameras and a PC that allows operators to teach the system label designs and locations at the touch of a button, defining a tolerance level for a 'good' or 'bad' label.

Inspection time is lower than 30ms, which means the system can keep up with lines running at 2000 products per min.

This simple approach allows a whole library of products to be defined for a packing or filling line.

The GCS system can automatically call up the correct product by receiving information from a PLC, PC or by the operator via the PC program itself. The system is cost effective too. GCS believes that payback for a turnkey solution would be four months based on a three shift operation.
