Available from Mitutoyo (UK) is a micrometer with a new-style thimble and newly developed ratched mechanism that is said to allow higher accuracy in one-handed measurements.

The 0 to 25mm range instrument has a ratchet function working from both the thimble and the speeder.

Its design allows easy, one-handed, ratchet-assisted measurements using the thimble, while the ratchet speeder is always available for quickly rotating the spindle and making ratchet -assisted measurements when using two hands, or a stand.
