A Koldphos polymer phosphate process developed by Blackfast operates like an iron phosphate conversion coating and has been shown in independent tests to give up to 1000h neutral salt spray on steel and 3000h on aluminium.

Natural ingredients in the product give a high conversion coating efficiency, even at low temperatures, resulting in very low levels of sludge and long bath life and as much as 50% less bath consumption.

Baths are stable and easily controlled by a simple titration. The system is said to give lower levels of voc, bod and cod emissions.
