Adjust light levels
November 1st 2005

Illuminated magnifiers are a key requirement for many manual assembly, craft and inspection tasks. While some jobs call for shadow-free light from all sides, others can be more easily carried out if there is clear shadow to highlight edges and surface features.

Waldmann Lighting's SNL 319 combines both lighting modes in the same unit. A large, square, low distortion lens gives a clear view of the work area and incorporates three powerful, energy-saving fluorescent lamps arranged in a Ushape around the lens. With three lamps on, the magnifier illuminates the workpiece from all angles with no shadows. By switching to the two-lamp mode, it is immediately thrown into contrast. The ability to adjust the light level is said to improve concentration and reduce operator fatigue.

The lens pivots independently of the magnifier head. The magnifier itself is on a 3D ball joint attached to a spring-balanced arm.
