BENEFITS OF PART-EXCHANGE January 1st 2005 West Midlands-based automotive press tooling specialist, Brierley has traded in one of its three Sodick EDM machines for a refurbished, more advanced model and also purchased a new linear drive AQ750L wire machine.
The company specialises in safety critical automotive items and works to very tight tolerances. The EDM machines are considered crucial for this work, which includes progression tooling up to 500t.
The company needed to do two things simultaneously: increase the productivity of its existing EDM machines; and buy a machine with larger capacity to enable it to take on larger tooling tasks.
By taking up Sodi- Tech EDM’s offer of a part exchange on one of the older machines the company was able to achieve significant productivity benefits with the refurbished A320D, while still being able to purchase the large new machine that can take workpieces of up to 1050 by 750 by 400mm.
