Blast room cuts costs March 1st 2005 A self-contained blast-room, custom built by Hodge Clemco, has dramatically reduced abrasive costs and improved working conditions for AIA Shot Blasting.
The structure contains both a blast chamber and a sealed plant room and is 3.65m wide by 12m long by 3m high. Double doors at one end provide access for large items, and walls are lined with rubber curtains.
The blasting system is a high-production, singlechamber direct pressure unit with a 45° cone that is connected to the abrasive storage hopper, providing a fully enclosed feed system.
A water separator prevents moisture entering the system in order to keep abrasive dry and freeflowing.
The operator can control blast pressure between 10 and 110psi.
A high efficiency dust extraction system with a 4000ft3/m air-flow provides good visibility and comfortable working conditions for the operator by drawing dust to a freestanding collector outside the booth.
An automatic shaking system dislodges dust from the bag filter in the collector to maintain extraction performance. More articles from Hodge Clemco: |
