Burners help dairy boost its energy efficiency
July 1st 2005

Aleading milk processor has enhanced energy efficiency in a key area of its production using equipment and services from Lanemark International.

The Arla Foods Dairy in North London has gained from a new ‘Cleaning in Place’ facility brought on-line with the benefit of Lanemark burner systems.

The stainless steel construction includes all key elements of the Lanemark units, from burner housing to gas valve train. Five CIP tanks are now housed in a dedicated room. Two tanks containing caustic solution are heated by Lanemark units at point of use. Each of the four TX40 burner systems are rated at 328kW, providing a nett heat input to each tank of 530kW, representing an efficiency in excess of 80%.

Burners operate under suction and fire into 4in nb immersion tube heat exchangers that occupy minimal space at the base of each vessel.

Bill Dickson, Arla Foods’ project manager, says “The Lanemark installation provides the optimum blend of heating efficiency and space effectiveness.”
