Improved filtration November 1st 2003 Changing from conventional paper filters to Dralle CPA media supplied by Hodge Clemco has dramatically improved filtration performance and reduced costs for aircraft finisher Sprayavia International.
The single-stage Dralle CPA filters are a cost-effective way of achieving the high holding capacity and low pressure drop required. The material consists of a multi-layer, multi-density polyester that is said to achieve a holding capacity almost three times greater than standard paper media and to reduce run-offs by 90%.
The company claims that efficiency is 99.53% with paint droplets of 3microns and above compared with 97.12% when paper media are used. Initial pressure drop is 0.04in at 150fpm, against 0.14in with paper.
The Dralle media was initially installed in fixed and mobile extractors in one of the finishing bays at Sprayavia, measuring 50 by 50m. Following successful use in this bay for two years, the company has installed it in a second bay of a similar size. More articles from Hodge Clemco: |
