Installation of eight LogiMat vertical lifts has enabled a major tool and accessory distributor to dramatically cut warehouse floor space to 64m2, a saving of about 97% of its original size. The high density system, available in the UK from Autoscan, has significantly improved the overall efficiency of pick operations with operators having to travel less distance. Carl F has its main centralised warehouse in Odense, Denmark. It houses more than 16 000 products, stored on pallet racks, shelving and in the new LogiMat vertical lifts. While the operating concept of every LogiMat remains the same, it adapts easily to the users specific needs. The lift holds a number of trays, each supported in a specific slot within an enclosed frame. The number of trays is dependent on the overall height of the vertical lift; at Carl F, the LogiMat systems stand 12m high and accommodate drawer sizes of 2500 by 620mm. Lifts are connected to the existing ERP system via LogiDrive.
