Solutions for welding tasks
July 1st 2004

A range of proximity sensors from ifm electronics efector m series has been designed to deal with all the problems associated with welding.

The company says that the sensing range is greater to prevent mechanical damage, and the new units will sense the same distance whatever the metal.

Sensors are ptfe-coated and the sensing face is made from a highly durable thermoset to cope with weld splatter. Circuits are hardened against the interference from the electromagnetic fields.

Standard cylindrical sizes are available in M12, M18 and M30. The enhanced sensing distance means the M12 will sense 8mm even on non-ferrous targets. Also available is a compact rectangular unit, sensing up to 35mm in any one of five directions.
