A switch in time
September 1st 2006

Sensors UK has introduced a proximity switch designed for use in Zone 2 Explosive areas The MI-250-Ex.

The silicon free inductive switches are used in paint and dryer systems, in steel mining industry and for production of press plates, asphalt, glass, cement and in areas where objects must be detected at a high temperature.

The MI-250-Ex has a working temperature range of 230C, with short excursions up to 250C where many conventional switches would just burn away or fail.

Special temperature compensation makes the switching distance constant at high temperatures.

The MI250-Ex are available as an extension of Sensor's existing range of proximity switches and are compliant with standard EN 60079-0:2004.

All switches use a 24 VDC power supply, with the option of 115 VAC mains supply for those applications where there is no local DC supply available
