Infrared oven
November 1st 2007 A purpose-built 32kw medium wave infra-red hood oven from Heraeus Noblelight is helping Michell Bearings to achieve more control in the manufacture of white metal bearings. At the same time, the system is providing a cleaner and safer working environment. A key stage in the manufacture of white metal bearings is the coating of the parent metal of the bearing surface with the white metal itself. Heat is needed to ensure good fluxing and adhesion of the white metal. With the infrared hood oven, heat is applied only when necessary and is precisely focused onto the bearing surface, giving in an energy-efficient solution.
