Shot peening

General Motors' uses Wheelabrator Group's peening machines at its Powertrain factory in Austria to treat gears and shafts. This includes imparting a high internal stress on gear teeth to increase their strength Wheelabrator's Dominique Schwab says "Shot peening is a sensitive process and our machines offer exceptional reliability and consistency, while accommodating different shapes and sizes." Engineers worked with General Motors to tailor four automatic CFX 600 machines. An integral loading and unloading system was included, and integrated washing machines clean the drive and auxiliary shafts after processing.
