Alloy analyser January 1st 2008 Cronimet GB has bought a
new generation XL3t (TM)
alloy analyser from Niton
UK. To be used for the
sorting and grading of
recycled alloys for use in
stainless steel production,
the hand-held instrument
typically takes less than 2sec
to identify an alloy grade.
The instruments operate
on the principle of x-ray
fluorescence, which uses xrays
to excite the atoms in
the sample and measures
the fluorescent x-rays reemitted
by the material.
From this they then rapidly
determine the elements
present as well as their
relative concentrations.
For samples with known
ranges of chemical
composition, such as
common grades of metal
alloys, the analysers can
also quickly identify most
sample types by name.
The XL3 series is available
in different configurations
with optional accessories. More articles from Niton UK Ltd: |
