Checking tube top tightness
March 1st 2006 The Body Shop buys openended tubes for toiletries with caps already fitted and checks a sample of caps for tightness using a CapStar from Crane Electronics.
From each delivery of caps - of which there are up to four each week - up to 50 are checked.
Previously a manual gauge with a dial was used, but the company wanted a solution that was more sensitive, less subjective, and that could print the results each time. The CapStar has met these requirements and also saves time through its statistical analysis function.
The simple operation involves clamping the tube on a turntable where the cap is turned to undo it.
The torque is automatically measured and printed on the built-in printer, giving a permanent record for traceability. More articles from Crane Electronics Ltd: |
