January 1st 2007 A new WinLIMS rental scheme from Quality Systems International is said to bring full functionality LIMS within the reach of every laboratory for (typically) £265 per month for a three-user system. The only additional costs are a one-off admin fee of £200 and, if the alternative reporting package – Crystal Reports XI – is selected, there is a one-off fee of £320. The system is designed to selfinstall and includes installation programmes and interactive training aids (which do not require the use of client data). If no suitable SQL database is present on the user's network, this is detected during installation and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express is installed automatically.
