Measuring up May 1st 2005 Rochdale-based Holroyd Machine Tools uses a bespoke measuring fixture with DataMyte data analysis and capture, supplied and supported by Quality Gauging Systems.
The latest of three benches from QGS measures shafts of rotary screws for turbocharger units used in marine outboard power motors.
This project, for the annual manufacture of 15 000 matched pairs of rotors, measures shaft dia, length and root depth for each of these components.
To work at maximum efficiency, each pair of rotors must be exactly geometrically matched.
Measurements are taken mid-process.
Once an item is correctly positioned, measuring tools are manually moved into place. The selected measurements are automatically transmitted to DataMyte software running on the bench-top PC. Data analysed by the software includes traceability.
As each component is measured, the display indicates automatically whether it is well within, just within or outside acceptable tolerances using a diagram that shows red, amber, green. More articles from ASI DataMyte UK Ltd: |
