Static boost to quality September 1st 2008 In Mould Labelling is becoming
more popular, with companies
adopting the process as a clean
and effective way of decorating
injection moulded parts, for
example in consumer electronics. It
is the process whereby a label is
inserted into the mould before the
injection moulding takes place; the
label then becomes an integral part
of the final product.
In China, Edart Electronics, an
injection moulding company
producing laptop components, has
installed a system from static
control specialist Meech
International to further improve
quality. It comprises a 992v3 static
generator and 994SPP Single Point
Pinning System.
In this application, the static
generator creates a controlled level
of static charge that is delivered to
pinning heads connected to a
992v3 high voltage supply via a 6-
way resistive splitter box. The
individual resistive coupling
ensures smooth spark-free pinning,
with independent operation of each
head. The static charge creates a
temporary bond between labels
and plastic mould and keeps them
in place as plastic is injected into
the mould. More articles from Meech International Ltd: |
