Economical robotic arm May 1st 2009 A new Universal Robot has been
introduced by R.A. Rodriguez.
Small and lightweight, the industrial
robot arm has six axes of movement
and is quick and easy to install. A
specially developed graphical user
interface means no expert
programming is needed; within a
couple of hours it can be ready to
run, providing true plug-and-play
productivity.
It comes into its own where
traditional robots are considered too
large, too expensive, too noisy, or not
sufficiently flexible. Suitable as an
entry level automation device, it can
be set up by anyone and operates
from a standard 240V electrical
supply. The Universal Robot weighs
just 18kg, is easily moved around
and requires no dedicated base. As a
result, it can automate a variety of
tasks in the production environment.
Reprogramming is quickly achieved
via a 12in touch-sensitive screen.
The robot consumes little power,
has a working radius of 85cm,
handles a payload of 5kg and its
joints can rotate at up to 180°/s;
repeatability is accurate to ±0.1mm. More articles from R A Rodriguez UK Ltd: |
