Rotary position sensors
January 1st 2006

A robust rotary position sensor will be launched at MTEC by Penny + Giles. With an 88mm diameter housing and 12mm diameter shaft, the SRH880 is the largest noncontact, Hall-effect rotary sensor in the company's industrial range.

It can operate in high dither vibration conditions with no deterioration of the sensing element. It is not susceptible to shock and vibration, making it suitable for steering position monitoring and hydraulic lifting systems on off-highway vehicles.

It is also available with a stainless steel housing for applications in offshore, marine, steel production and power generation environments, and has a protection rating to IP68M.

The sensor provides an electrical output across the full 360° range and is launched with 10bit resolution encoder. For ease of configuration, it is available with analogue (0.5 to 4.5VDC) or digital (pulse width modulated) signal output.
