Wipes away the dross
May 1st 2006

A range of solder pots that automatically create a dross-free zone for reliable and efficient leadfree soldering has been introduced by Solbraze.

Marketed under the RotaDip banner the product comprises a circular, temperature-controlled, rotating solder pot. The pots are made from either close-grained, grey cast iron or meehanite, spheroidal graphite, close grain cast iron. These tough materials withstand high temperatures when working with lead-free solders.

To remove dross, the pot rotates against a fixed blade that collects the dross and automatically deposits it in an outer tray. During an additional rotation an additional sweeper blade pushes the dross to a discharge chute, where it can be recovered for safe disposal.
