Better finish and less noise and vibration

To meet the requirements of modern, powerful and userfriendly grinding machines, Lukas-Erzett has expanded its range of flap discs with the development of the SLTT-turbo.

The patented flap configuration allows for a very small angle of application between the abrasive and the workpiece. The company says that, contrary to the conventional type of flap disc, this results in a considerably greater number of abrasive grains simultaneously removing the stock.

More abrasive flaps are located towards the outer edge of the backing-plate, enabling the flaps to be used to the full.

Lukas-Erzett says that the SLTT achieves a significant increase in grinding performance (volume of stock removed within a specific time) with a considerably longer tool life compared to other products.

Field trials were undertaken to compare the overall performance of the SLTT 178 ZK40 with both conventional flap discs and DC grinding discs made by another German manufacturer.The SLTT produced more than twice as many components as the DC disc. An improved surface finish of the workpiece was achieved with the SLTT and operators reported a significant reduction in noise and vibration.
