Stainless steel welding wire January 1st 2008 Unipart has now switched
to using ESAB stainless
steel welding wire supplied
in Mini Marathon Pacs in its
production process.
One of the issues that
Unipart wanted to tackle
was the way 10-15m of
welding wire was typically
being wasted from the ends
of reels that had been
supplied too tightly wound.
As well as being costly in
terms of the amount of
welding wire that was
unused, it also meant that
reel changes were required
more frequently. ESAB's
Mini Marathon Pac has
100kg of 1mm diameter
1.4511 grade stainless steel
wire. The change has
resulted in less wastage,
savings in time and cost
and improved quality.
"We found the Marathon
Pacs worked very well on
trials," says Will McKenzie,
technical team leader and
project engineer at Unipart.
"We installed them on all
20 robots. The results have
been sustained and we are
now trouble-free." More articles from ESAB Group UK Limited: |
